How often have you been forced to move the party indoors as the sun sets and the mosquitoes claim the night? Mosquitoes are annoying and in some cases, deadly. Mosquitoes can carry viruses and diseases. They have been known to carry and spread the West Nile virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, and can even spread heartworms to your pets. It is imperative that you regularly inspect your yard for areas of standing water. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in areas of stagnant water. This includes areas with poor drainage, in old tires, cans, flower pots anywhere they think their eggs will be safe. When the next rain comes the fresh rainwater helps the eggs to hatch. Mosquitoes can grow from an egg to an adult in less than a week. There are about 20 different species of mosquitoes in the United States and depending on where you live you could have several varieties to deal with.
